Pursuit

Just came back frm watching the movie, Fame, with my colleague. Nice movie, but it did make us feel tt we were a tad too old for it. And the fact tt we watched it in cine doesnt help at all, cos e place is always filled w tons of teenagers who hv either slapped on too much makeup on their faces or dressed like we're really experiencing autumn weather here.

Well, okay, save for Joanne Peh who was leaning way too much on the body of her angmoh boyfriend in the main hall of the theatres entrance which totally tarnished her girl-next-door image, in my opinion.

Anyway, Fame is abt how a grp of high school students attending this performing arts sch in NYC pursue their craft and dreams. The piano scenes reminded me of my own craft (if i dare to call it one anyway) and seriously, whatever happened to the performing art dream tt i had harboured when i was younger?

I think everyone of us who grew up being versed in a form of performing art wld hv harboured some sort of related dream at a point or another.

But this being Singapore, is where some of us wld lose our dream along e way and get too caught up in this rat race.

Sad to say, I'm one of these ppl, who will b clocking in 12 hrs or more in e corporate world and can forget the existence of her piano deserted at home easily.

And all she can do to relieve her once-harboured-dream is to indulge in films such as Fame to FEEL those stage moments once again.

I wonder, if there'll ever be a time for me to return to e performing stage once again. :)

The Phantom of the Opera

Am currently watching the movie being shown on Okto now, n it's my 4th time watching it alr.

As i watched it this time, i kept trying to recall the same musical which i watched in Esplanade in 2007. However, my goldfish memory only allowed me to rem the faintest impression of the set. How sad, n i haven watched a musical since. Really regret not being able to catch any when i was in London.

Anyway, i blogged this entire entry from my phone! So cool!

Mood-lifters come in the form of...

catch-up chats with dear old frens, frens whom i used to see ever so often at a point in my life, but now everyone is split up in different work places or campuses.

bracing the crowd at comex fair and getting my long-awaited pure white new smart-phone and an unexpected buy of a sparkling red external hard disk drive, easily convinced by kelly to get it tgr.

being able to see the end of my temp job stint soon, despite having nice colleagues and a really great boss who even asked half-jokingly whether i can dun go to my perm job but stay in my current temp job instead.

knowing that my 2-week break before perm job starts is approaching soon.

knowing that recess week is approaching soon and hopefully a piano gathering can materialise.

and finally, joining the tanjong pagar crowd and kicking off a new career soon.
