I may be paranoid (which I really hope I am) but I seriously feel that I did really badly for my exams this time, esp. for 2 papers out of the 4 that I took. I have only myself to blame, for having put many other things such as my committees and trips planning way ahead of my studies as priorities. So for now, I still have to worry till that fateful day on 22 May where the results would be released, and where I would be in Paris, so I dun even know if i can and if i shld check my results there and then.
Alrights. So much so for that depressing topic on school and exams.
Anyway, just a mere 3 days before my 1st paper, the event which I had been planning 6 mths for finally took place in Vivocity.
All those days of emails and calls to various schools and tons of liaising with teachers, parents and students finally boiled down to this day. Not to mention the 2 weeks leading up to the event day tt were spent with minimal sleep, as our whole committee spent nights in hall 4, doing up clues, station props and admin work. It felt a little like those FOC Main Comm days, which had formed a fantastic part of my uni memories.
Despite the exam stress and the constant worrying of how I am going to cope with the upcoming exams, I enjoyed being in NYEC comm very very much. All of us grumbled and complained over the tons of work needing to be done for this event, but we could still make a joke out of it. And we all pulled through with each other's support. Working again with alex, jieying, simon, kelly and val was no problem at all, and this comm gave us more reasons to catch up with one another admist our busy lives. It was also a wonderful thing to have got to know the others in the comm better, as most of them were just acquaintances from hall previously.
The friendship gained and the laughter shared were the most precious gift we all got from this committee.
On the event day, it started off as a very hot and humid day and we were all under the mere shelter of a tentage in that open area. Around 4pm, it started to rain very very heavily and got us all drenched. It seemed as if we've weathered through sunshine and storms tgr, just like how we've pulled through the whole organising process till the very end. Like how we started off with only around a handful of participants, till the last month where Jieying and I put our efforts tgr and managed to garner around 450 sec sch participants for the event.
It feels extremely memorable that the champion team for the race turned out to be frm VJ and one of the participants is in piano ensemble currently! We were both very excited when we both realised that, haha. Other than this, the interaction with many other participants and station masters and facilitators (jc students) made me miss my sec sch and jc days v much. Or rather, I miss being young again, and I would love to have those days back and experience many other things again. =)
Anyway, this is the most fulfilling event I have ever organised for and seriously, the satisfaction from having organised a successful event with a wonderful committee is way.beyond.description. Am missing those memorable days alr, though its been just barely 2 wks ago. Can't wait for our celebratory "chalet" in may! =)
But before tt, I'll be flying off to hk this sun! Looking forward to the cool weather, dimsum, desserts and shopping! =)
