A night of glitz and glamour.
The main comm formed a total of 3 tables, and i'm glad to be sitting with them, talking lots of crap and showing utmost support for simon. lol.
We even did cheers! Last yr, no cheers were heard at dnd(afterall, its a night to maintain an image), but this yr a couple of cheers were done frm different OGs, so how can the main comm not do anything right. haha.
DnD is always an affair of photowhoring, so enjoy the selected photos posted below! =)

Kelly, my fellow tampinesian, cabbed down to Goodwood Park Hotel with me, and we reached kinda early. Kelvin reached arnd the same time as we did, so we just sat at the hotel's very high class cafe and ordered tea! Too bad i forgot to take photos of the very pretty teacups and portray how cultured we were! haha. =p

My dearest Freshmen Orientation Camp(FOC) main committee! It was very difficult to get everyone to do a group shot tgr, so we tried a couple of times! haha. Some couldnt make it that night too. But anyway, I'll never forget the wonderful times spent with this group of ppl!

My fellow vega girls present at the dnd.

me and sha. (missy xiaowei! wish you were here toooooo!)

me and yifang.

Kelly bought flowers for his OG's yr2 girls, and included my share as well, cos we're both tampinesians!

Upon seeing Kelly's flower for me, Alex decided to give me a flower that will never wither. And his idea of that was acty in a form of an sms that contains a flower! Gosh, i was still wondering why he wld send me an sms, when he was just standing nearby. Haha. The group of us (some main commers) standing tgr during the cocktail session had a good laugh out of it. =)

Gen, Kevin and me. Thats Mr. Boss behind FOC 2007. =)

Me and Kenji, who just flew off to Japan for exchange yesterday. I thought that his shirt resembles a piano keyboard! heh.

Gen, me and Wanting, the latter being vega's pageant girl and 1st runner-up last yr!

Last but not least, that's my freshies's OG Venom plus us seniors frm Vega.

Now that dnd is over, it really seems like the days of FOC are memories. It feels like the whole chapter has closed and being a part of FOC main comm is a thing of the past, esp. since i wont be re-running for the committee anymore. Thinking abt it makes me sad, cos i really enjoyed being part of this committee very very much! Nevertheless, i hope we'll still have outings coming up and hopefully the friendships forged will not be lost admist everyone's busy schedule! =)

hmmmm.
cant wait for dinnertime.
been getting hungry very easily.
been eating more n more.
not too sure why too.
perhaps to fill the emptiness inside.
ha.

somehow, sometimes, the more ppl we know, the emptier we feel inside.
and then, some ppl are always better left unacquainted.
but then when we realised it, it may sometimes be too late.

ah whatever.
cant wait to go home.
that wld be really therapeutic cos somehow, everytime i go home, everything seems alright again.
going back to the east seems like throwing everything abt sch aside. haha.

anyway, there was the 2nd hall4-ahs supper last night again! haha. I think we're the only alumni of a sec sch that organises such an outing in hall 4. lol. There were much more ppl, esp. girls frm the '88 batch, that turned up last night! In the end, we couldnt squeeze tgr into 1 table, hence didnt really get to know them. but anyway, such gatherings are really heartwarming, a chance to reminisce abt the old old times. =)

Hall TOTS event and NBS DnD coming up this wkend.
Hope they'll be really enjoyable.

A look at the time on my taskbar and i realised its 2.58am now.
I'm supposed to be doing my cover letter but i dun think i can churn out anything presentable now.
Way too tired.
Emotionally and physically.
Well, acty not that tired physically. Just perhaps havent got used to the long flights of staircases in sch and in hall.
Emotionally cos i had my longest day so far.
830-1930, with only an hr of lunch break in btwn, and at that time there were such long queues in the canteen that i ended up with having only a muffin for lunch.
Totally couldnt concentrate much for my last lecture from 1630 to 1930.
I think i wasted my 3hrs in the LT, which cld have been used to do my cover letter instead.
Oh wells, why am i saying such rambles anyway.
Okie its late and i'm just waiting for my hair to dry before zonking out.

Anyway, i had block dinner today where we had buffet!
So happy to see that my blk has so many locals this time round.
Cant wait for our round island dinner/supper thats coming up!
Such activities take my mind off every single thing frm nbs.
So grateful for this fact. Hahaha.

This whole wk has been the wk where ppl are deciding on the committees that they wanna join.
Freshies asking for advice, and I thought thru alot abt wad i want too, esp. with the ongoing persuasion to join jcrc.
More or less settled on my decision alr.
I dun wish to regret anything. =)

Talked alot to a fren just now. Started off with the topic on joining committees and then the chat strayed off to many other things. In her not-so-refined words, we were practically having verbal diarrhoea, spewing everything out from our minds. Thinking back on wad everything we've discussed n chatted abt, one will realise that its such a cruel and sad world out there. It's so difficult to find sincerity around now. Well, of cos this isnt the first time i'm having such a realisation, but still when it strikes again and again, the pang never fails to arise. And now that i've some time to myself, i'm also thinking abt my attitude towards the different groups of ppl i know here. Reflecting and reflecting.

Just told roomie earlier on that if i had gone for hall camp last yr, everything that i've been involved in right from the start of yr1 would perhaps have been very different.
I think alot of things wld turn out to be very very different.

Went to Settlers Cafe with some maincommers last fri.
Really love hanging around with my fellow maincommers!

Anyway, none of us brought a digicam along, so the pic was taken with gen's hp. Not too bad for a hp pic right? Heh.
We walked along Clarke Quay after that, in search of a chill-out place but everywhere was just so packed!
So we just kept on walking and walking....
And because of this, we heard that there'll be fireworks that night, and so we waited at the bridge!
Haha.
The fireworks were really beeeeeauuuuutifuullllll!
Tried to capture them with my hp, but none of the pictures turned out great. So well, none to share here.
But anyway, i think fireworks shld be appreciated with one's own eyes. No amount of skilled photography or photoshop skills can capture the true awe. =)
Next outing with my maincommers will be a bbq in sch this wk! yay!

Anyway, the most commonly asked qn of that night was "Are u going to run for exco?"
Well, everyone was asking everyone this qn.
Hmmm i've been thinking alot abt it too.
Having lots of mixed feelings as to whether i shld continue to be involved with NBS FOC so much and run for exco in this new academic yr.
Initially, some of the maincommers and i were looking forward to continue working tgr in another NBS committee this new yr, but with the closure of this committee (no thanks to a particular prof), disappointment heeds our way and i kind of not know which route to take now.
Plus, the numerous approaches to run for JCRC is adding on to the options too.
But oh well.
Maybe i shld just mug all the way from now on and then aim for 1st cls honours.
HAHA.
Okay, that seems quite impossible.
Lol.

In the midst of hall camp now.
Enjoying myself very much.
Surprisingly.
Even though i fell and hurt myself yst. Argh. Sigh.

Subconciously, I've always known that the difference btwn nbs's culture and my hall's culture is that the latter feels more like home. Attending hall camp and being involved as a subcommer this time allowed me to realise this point further.

With the influx of the 86 and 88 batch of ahs alumni, plus the fact that there's alr some of us alumni here, it feels great to have ppl of the same background hanging arnd. (esp. while i was chatting to jovin and aijia during SP interaction.) Sth totally unavailable to me in the nbs environment. Also, with the huge condensation of hall 4 residents who live in tamp, (just like me), there's sth more to relate to each other, somehow.

Alex told me some time ago that he has always enjoyed hall camp more than nbs camp, and i was confused and surprised. Given the fact that i've so many frens from other halls who gave feedback that hall camps are boring. However, i found myself having the same sentiments as alex now. Perhaps it may be due to the fact that i didnt attend hall camp last yr, so every programme is kind of a novelty to me. It may also be due to the fact that i'm only a subcommer this time, so there's less pressure as compared to being a maincommer, as i was in nbs camp. The more relaxed schedule and all of us having a personal space to rest play a part too.

But i think, more importantly, its the family culture in hall 4 that champions all.
No hard feelings, no competitiveness, and everyone understands the meaning of having pure fun in a camp. This aligns parallel with my definition of an orientation camp.
Although the organization of the camp isnt as neat as that of nbs camp, although the freshies do not get as high as those in nbs camp, the effort that goes into the preparation and the games do not pale in comparison.

Very glad that i got to know alot of seniors and peers in hall simply thru this camp. Plus my og freshies and a few from other ogs! The number of locals in my blk has also increased, and as we seniors in here say, blk 23 shall be the hippiest blk in future, hahaha.

There're some things in life that we can only do at certain times.
Orientation camps is definitely one of them.
I'm so glad that i've been exposed to 2 very different but memorable experiences in this summer break. =)
