Walking down Haji Lane

This year, the company gave us old laptops, instead of brand new ones as opposed to the previous years, in view of cutting costs and the high turnover rate i presume. But as wad my seniors told me, I should still love my laptop, so that it'll love me back and will not flare its temper during the coming peak, because if it does, even the most brilliant guy in the IT department may be at his wits' ends as well.

So, in search of a beautiful home for my dear laptop who overworks 5 days a week, and sometimes over the weekend as well, I made my maiden shopping trip in Haji Lane yesterday to get a FabrixCase.

(Well, it actually just boils down to my own vanity to want to carry a chic laptop bag to work everyday.)

A look at Loft & Public, where FabrixCase is hosted. (Credits to Loft&Public Gallery for the photos)

It's a real pity that the yellow dress in the 2nd photo wasn't there, because I so desire it just by looking at the photo.

Anyway, Haji Lane is a vintage cove, and it feels vaguely like Suan Lum Night Bazaar (for the home design art pieces) or Chatuchak (for some of the arty-farty design clothes) in Bangkok.

The designers must feel really proud to have a quaint little shop hidden away in a small lane to showcase all their designs for the ppl who know how to appreciate it. But it's a really quiet place (considering I alr went on a Sat afternoon) and I wonder how bored the shop owners or shop assistants can get.

My customised FabrixCase will arrive in approximately 10 days' time and I'm so looking forward to it. =)

(thanks to roomie for the recommendation and I now finally understand your excitement 3 years back when u first got ur FabrixCase!)

Life.

Hello, im back, even though i wonder if anyone still checks this space, ha.

Work life's really blissful now, as I'm part of a really great and fun team on my first fieldwork engagement, such tt all of us do not mind late hrs.

And I've just had some gatherings with frens and the catch ups just give warmth, because at least, they let me know that i'm still remembered.

When some aspects of life seem to fail at times, everything will still be good if we have the love from family and frens to bring us through. =)

How do you pronounce my name?

There are some mornings on the train when I look out at the bright sky and then get reminded of the summer in eur. Those days of waking up with no stress and just eat, see things and shop.

But those days are long gone and my memory of eur is fading fast.

What replaces those days is the stressful working life. Training ended a week ago, and so did our honeymoon period tgr with our 2 hr lunches. Other than the training period, there hasnt been a day when I can really get to knock off at 530pm sharp. Come next week, 3am nights shall beckon. Really very exciting haha.

Being back in the same familiar environment once again makes me feel as if I had acty joined the firm a year plus ago and then went on a hiatus, and now I'm back again. Hence, when I was 2 weeks into work, I felt as if I had alr worked for 2 months. But it was nice to know tt the then-assistants have now become seniors, and that they still rem me, some even just by seeing my name through the system . Just gives a warm fuzzy feeling. =)

Starting somewhere new means lots of introductions, esp. in our line of work where we just keep meeting new colleagues and clients. I always knew that my name is commonly mis-pronounced as 3 syllables, when it should only be 2 syllables. But what I recently found out was that some ppl find it impossible to pronounce my name at all, or it'll be mis-pronounced as a totally different name, like "Delphine". How it can even get there, I seriously wonder.
