Addiction

My broadband connection went haywire last night and there was no access to the internet for me at all. Cleared most of my emails in school today. Left school at arnd 6pm just now, and came home feeling so uneasy that I cant have any access to internet at home. Only till arnd 12am just now, I decided to fiddle arnd, and managed to get the connection. It was such a huge sign of relief, as I no longer had to wait till Thursday for the Singnet person to come to my house, which is the earliest date they could fix for me.

Well, the point is, I've always thought tt I'm someone who can live without technology for a couple of days, since I appear offline often and chuck my phone in one corner usually. But this incident has proven me so wrong.

With 1 of my committees, NYEC, going into its last stages now, and me being the Liaison Officer in the comm, I've loads of urgent mails to correspond to these days, and this has got me really addicted to my email and the internet, basically. I guess the failed internet connection was perhaps heaven's way of reminding me that I should stop spending so much time online.

Anyway, speaking of National Youth EnvirOlympics Challenge (NYEC) En-Mazing Race 2009, it's a nation-wide amazing race that aims to promote environmental awareness in Singapore and involve students from secondary level and JCs and polys. Yes, save the environment, think Earth Hour, think Earth Day. Well, we arent directly related to the organization that organized Earth Hour, but we're all working towards the same cause all the same. =) There are also other events under the same NYEC umbrella, such as NYEC Cyclethon, Photography Contest, etc. So watch out for our news very very soon!

Anyway, throughout the past few weeks, there were some down times in my life and I came to realise how some frens are really helpful and selfless frens, and I managed to pull through with the help of their support. They may not even know it, but really, they've made me very touched in a way or another, be it through lending me a listening ear, or helping out with the committee or grad trip stuff when I couldnt cope, or offering help even without being asked to, or simply through encouraging words. thank you. =)

It's the final lap now, pertaining to both NYEC and my uni life. I hope to complete it with a perfect sprint. =)

Never Too Late

"Hey are you okay? Is everything okay for you?"

Am surprised and touched tt all it took was just a few work-related sms-es to sense tt sth is not right. I guess brave fronts don't always work.

In the midst of everything low and bad, time was taken out and efforts were made.
At the ungodly hour of 10pm-4am, the htht materialized. Not virtually, but in a cafe in town.
A close friendship of almost 3 yrs, but we never had time for such meetups.
Parted ways at 4am, both feeling stronger and more positive, ready to take on the challenges in our own lives in the coming weeks.

Sometimes, all it takes is just this kind of a couple of hrs w some ppl dear to you to make you feel alive.

Lost in Translation

bus⋅y⋅ness
–noun
1. the quality or condition of being busy.
2. lively but meaningless activity.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/busyness

No. 2 seems very apt suddenly.

Sometimes, I wonder what/why am I doing so much for.

NYEC loves

Love these smile-from-the-heart, laugh-till-you-drop times.
No mind games, no masks.
Such moments seem to get rarer in life.

Love these beloved frens, who've been working alongside with me in committees since the year 1 times, even more.
Our chemistry and understanding of each other just gets better and better over the years.
And I know, I can count on them. =)

Escapism

Went for lessons for an afternoon, coming back to only realise that I've 11 long emails awaiting to be read and replied.
Omg, I just want to escape from school and committees.

Sha sent me 2 website links with beautiful pictures of shopping streets and cheap eats in london.
Omg, I just want to escape from school and committees and fly to london like now, now, NOW.

Anyway, I fell down again, yeah like AGAIN.
Sadded.
Okay, my sis says i'm wallowing in self-pity. hurhur.

Because pictures speak a thousand words...

Am very burned out from the planning of EUR trip. I'm so glad that we've booked our Eurail passes, our Eurostar passes, and we'll be able to settle the airtix by tmr. Numerous hostels await booking, but seriously I don't know where we're going to find time to do it, cos booking doesnt just entail entering your credit card number and deciding on what kind of rooms you want. It involves reading reviews, looking at maps, comparing locations and prices, etc etc. Which can take up to many browser windows and many hrs definitely.

On a happier note, I'm flying by SIA, and also on the A380 Airbus!!! Haha, who knows, maybe i'll get to see jos or spencer on board huh, lol. But anyway, I'll get to meet ming and mich in the very heart of london, and maybe yc perhaps somewhere else in eur! So excitinggggg. =)

Alrights, its the end of recess. School and committees beckon. It's time to embrace ntu land once again.
